Abstract

|
Traumatic rupture of the main bronchus is comparatively very rare. Early recognition of bronchial rupture and emergency thoracostomy and management is essential for reducing of morbidity, mortality and late complications.
The patient had sustained a penetrating injury to right anterior chest wall with a sharp iron material in length 30cm and had been taken to an emergency hospital where right closed thoracostomy had been performed for a tension pneumothorax. After closed thoracostomy, corrective surgery was performed with end-to-end anastomosis on the 6 hours after accident.
Postoperative course was uneventful and discharged without any complication.
